Hey Guys,
I know the blogspot has been slow. It usually is during the winter. I haven't been doing much nerf related things lately but I got bit by the bug a little bit last week.
The gentleman at Xplorer contacted me a little bit ago and asked if I was interested in reviewing the Fighter Kit for the Longshot. Now, I was ecstatic at the opportunity. I have been involved with Xplorer for a year and a half now. I first heard about them when I broke a boltsled for a Longshot and wanted a replacement. Having seen a little bit of their stuff on the internet I decided to give it a try. This was at about the same time as OMW was releasing their aluminum kits. I had bought kits from both companies and fell out of love with OMW when ALL but one of my kits and kits that my friends bought for blasters were destroyed. Boltsleds kept cracking, and I got fed up with them doing so. So far, the Xplorer has been keeping my interest with their great and dependable products. But the thing that sets them apart is their innovative designs. Instead of only creating kits, they have produced aftermarket designs for things like the Stampede SMG, Longshot shotgun priming grip, and developed their own magazines and darts. How awesome is that?
The Fighter Kit has the same performance as thr Power Trooper and even the Ultimate kits if you put the same spring in the blaster. But only the Trooper and Ultimate can use the higher power springs over an extended period of time. Due to the cost of all of this awesome stuff, Xplorer decided to produce the Fighter kit at a very low cost yet still with good performance. Enough to battle with the 100'ranges.
You can see a link to Xplorer and their Fighter kit here.
So fast forward to today. I received the kit and installed it in the blaster. I had a good time last night giving my buddies red spots and 1/2" diameter welts from the darts at close range. it was pretty good time. The kit performs like a well oiled machine, right out of the packaging. Darts are flying out of the blaster at insane distances. I am shooting Elite Darts 150'. When I load stefans in the Xpower Magazine and cycle them in the blaster, the darts are so accurate I can hit a 4" circle at 30'. OMW can not even come close to providing that reliability. If you want to prove me wrong, I'll take a OMW kit in on test and give it a fair review, but until then I'm sticking to Xplorer and their ever growing line of products.
So take my advice. Shell out the extra dough for a Xpower kit, because if you are like me and play nerf every week or so, the OMW kits probably have already blown up on you.
I also have it on good authority that a new line of Xplorer Kits will be hitting the shelves this summer. Some good stuff to be excited about.
Other than that, I've just been keeping on. The business will be picking back up in May and you'll be able to start ordering the commissions and see more stuff then. If you have anything you want to chat about, spring break, firearms, girls, or anything else, hit me up at the email uptop.
And just for shits and giggles, I like to think that I inspired this with my buddy toadenk after filming the Nerf Hoarders vs. Zombies video.

Tactical Tag: No Immortality on Doomsday
While OMW is busy tossing their customers metal triggers (which I honestly could care less about), they're once again missing the mark. Wasn't there something about a Longshot kit on 12-4-12? Since it's been over a year for the initial preorder, I've been burnt out long enough on this kit. Earlier in the fall I even decided to cancel the order, but even had problems with trying to do that... so I don't know if it actually got cancelled or not. Now there's this fiasco about getting "Address Confirmation E-mails", of which I have not received. At first, I took this as a sign that my order did actually get cancelled, but upon reading their fans responses, many others haven't gotten confirmation e-mails yet either.
Some folks have been defensive of Orange Mod Works in my recent rants about my opinion of how they've handled the Longshot Immortal kit, but a quick look back at the yearlong ordeal of this kit should make things pretty clear. Every single time OMW has set an ETA or put a date on this kit, it's been blown past with delay after delay. Additionally, they chug on acting as if nothing is wrong, offer up some other deals and freebies before actually answering the question of "what happened to the kit THIS time?"
Free Metal Triggers, coupons, and all that jazz doesn't do a thing for me. Even if it turns out my order WAS indeed cancelled, I'm frustrated for the fans that are still waiting for OMW to get their act together and deliver when they say they will on this kit. At this point, I don't care if the kit is any good or not. All this "The wait will be worth it" is just a cheap ploy to dodge the bullets of the coma-inducing wait the Longshot Immortal kit has put their fans through.
